Seeing from God's perspective may require you to have an eagle's eye, seeing beyond the views of those around you.

I was reading a book in which the author described an eagle flying into the storm and using the wind to propel its wings. The eagle didn’t flap about trying to fly, but rather it locked its wings soaring above the clouds, without expending much energy. I was intrigued and went to do some research on this bird. Well actually, I am not sure if the eagle flying into the storm is quite true, but it does use those same air currents that make for a bumpy airplane ride to soar through the skies.
At this point, I would like to digress a bit. There have been many stories going around about the eagle in Christian circles that are false. The eagle does not pick out its feathers and lose its talons to start afresh and live until it is 70 years old. The average lifespan for an eagle is 30 years, however some may make it to 50 years. It may be quite an inspiring story, but it is simply not true. We should always seek to be promoters of the truth as Jesus Himself is the Truth, and it is the Truth that sets us and keeps us free. Unfortunately, many Christians who berate the mainstream media are quick to propagate fake news through social media, which can be very dangerous. When we do so, we become entangled in a web of lies created by the enemy, who is the father of lies, resulting in us losing credibility. We need to check our sources and not be so trigger happy to press that share or send button without knowing the veracity of what we are disseminating as it could result in the decimation of our believability. This creates an obstacle when we are spreading the Gospel. Why should people believe us about Jesus, when we are constantly spreading untruths? While I am on this subject, “Cleanliness is next to godliness“ is not in the Bible. Come on now, how clean do you think Jesus was after spending 40 days in the wilderness? Being stinky doesn’t stop you from being holy. And “God helps those who helps themselves,” may sound good, but it is not of God. Also not in the Bible and may be harmful as we continue trying to “help” God, when all He wants us to do is obey Him. Remember, when we are weak, then we are strong, because God can work in us and have full control. We should stop trying to “help” God when in fact we are only hindering ourselves.
Okay, I am going back on track now. Eagles are fascinating creatures. I had fancied myself more like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon state to fly around gloriously. However, I no longer want to be a fluttering butterfly, instead I would like to be soaring eagle. Butterflies are nearsighted. If it gets too cold, they can’t fly. They drink from mud puddles and only live for a few weeks. Plus, they are often a “happy meal” for predators. Yikes!!! Be careful what the enemy plants in your mind and what you come into agreement with. No way do I want to be a butterfly anymore, no matter how beautiful it looks.
Now, the eagle, that’s where it’s at. It is a bird of strength and speed. God told Moses to say to the Israelites that He, the Lord, had carried them on eagles’ wings bringing them to Himself. (See Exodus 19:3-4). That is a bird of power. With an eyesight of 4 to 8 times more strength than that of a human eye, the eagle sees far, views colors more vividly and has more clarity of vision. As Christians, God calls us to see things from a higher perspective – His. As God spoke to Job, He mentioned the eagle who looked down from its home on the cliff detecting its food from afar. (See Job 39: 27-29). We should not see as the rest of the world does, looking at the temporal rather than the eternal. And we ought to look beyond the natural into the spiritual realm, which gives us more insight into what is taking place on the physical plane. In addition, the eagle regrows its feathers every year throughout its lifetime, to continue flying and catching its food. I am not sure about you, but sometimes we hang on to the old things too much, which blocks us from fully walking in the purpose God has for us. We always need to be growing and renewed. Let us not forget that the Lord satisfies our years with good things, so that our youth is renewed like the eagle. (See Psalm 103:5). Age means nothing to the Lord. We can fulfill His purpose with youthful vigor no matter how old we are. Never say, “This is just how I am.” We negate the work of the Holy Spirit when we declare this. Let us ask God to renew a steadfast spirit within us so that we can persevere in being transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Eagles are a bird of prey, this may seem like it would be a negative, but it depends on your perspective. This creature will not suffer from a victim mentality, which so many of us have. This mindset offers an open door to the enemy to ransack our lives. The eagle is aware of its surroundings because of its sight. We need to be on the alert at all times and ask God to give us His view on situations so that we will be overcomers, instead of being overcome by what we deem to be overwhelming circumstances. We must keep our eyes on the Lord and put our hope in Him and He will let us soar on eagles’ wings.
Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31
No siree! No longer do I want to be a butterfly. I would rather glide like an eagle through the skies looking to the Father who gives me acuity of spiritual sight, and wisdom to make those same winds that were to come against me be used to propel me to higher heights.
