Breaking News

Missiles are flying and bombs are dropping, but God is still in control. Storms are brewing and the earth is shaking, but God is still in control. Prices are soaring while resources are dwindling, but God is still in control. Protests are growing while a sense of safety is fleeting, but God is still in control. There are many Breaking News items, but no matter what is transmitted we serve a transcendent God who is sovereign over all, and nothing takes Him by surprise. What is Breaking News to us has already happened for Him. This is all in His plan, so we can rest in Him and trust Him. There is nothing new under the sun for Him. He is fully in control.

“I am the Lord, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other, The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the Lord who does all these. Psalm 45:5-7

Why then do we get so flustered about all that is happening around us when there is no other god greater than our God?  He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Nothing happens without His permission.  God is working all things for good for those who love Him and who are called to His purpose. What the devil means for harm, God will turn for good. So why are we worrying so much?

“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34

We have to trust that our Heavenly Father is taking care of us when everything around us is going crazy. We don’t have to worry. He is watching over us. We just need to stay under His wings and obey Him. We need to stand firm on His Word and let Him fight for us. We will see His salvation. We can praise Him resting assured that the battle is His and He is working on our behalf as long as we stay on His path.

And he said, “Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the valley in front of the wilderness of Jeruel. You need not fight in this battle; station yourselves, stand and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out to face them, for the Lord is with you.”  2 Chronicles 20:15-17

We do not have to fear because the Lord is with us. How amazing! The Maker of the universe is with us wherever we go, and He is taking care of us. This unlimited God works limitlessly in our lives. He cannot be shaken. He cannot be moved. He makes ways where there seems to be no way, by going ahead of us and making crooked paths straight.  No news catches Him off guard and He is our Keeper.

The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever. Psalm 121:5-8

This is my Breaking News. The Lord is guarding us and protecting us from evil. He is keeping our soul. So, let us not do anything in our own strength remembering that the weapons of our warfare are not of this world. And we use these Godly weapons to break down all human reasoning that comes against the knowledge of the Lord. We must take every thought captive to obey God and stop listening to the lies of the enemy which flood us with fear that is not from God. The Lord is fully in charge, and this will never change no matter how the world seems to be collapsing into chaos and the news appears to get worse.
